Staff Therapist

Enid Zuckerman, LMSW

My goal in practicing psychotherapy is to establish an ongoing conversation with individual patients and couples, and to develop a relationship that engenders greater self-knowledge, access to inner resources, liberation of repressed feelings and the healing of trauma. Insight-oriented, I also strive to find practical applications to create more choices in family, work, social, and spiritual life. I encourage patients to seek non-verbal and other therapeutic experiences to supplement our work in overcoming self-blaming, restrictive beliefs and to allow the real-self to flourish. I consider liveliness and humor to be essential to my work.

My education was profoundly amplified and deepened by clinical research in cancer patients’ quality of life at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center under the leadership of Dr. Jimmie Holland, a founder of the field of psycho-oncology, as well as bereavement groupwork. My personal interests include the mindfulness practices and meditation teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh; Tai Chi; theatre; poetry; mysteries; social justice.

I graduated with my B.A. in Psychology at Hunter College, my M.A. in Psychology at New York University (NYU) and my MSW with an emphasis on clinical psychology at NYU.

Post-Graduation, I completed 1 year of psychoanalytic coursework at New York Counseling and Guidance, earned my certificate in Palliative and End of Life Care, completed a Trauma Workshop led by Bessel Van der Kolk, and participated in Addiction Treatment studies with Dr. Frederick Woolverton as well as the Acceptance and Commitment therapy workshop.

I specialize and have experience in helping patients deal with trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse, addiction and sexual identity.
