Staff Therapist

Stephen Politis

Stephen’s therapeutic style has been greatly influenced by psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential thinkers. He employs techniques from these and other traditions to achieve insight, clarity, and positive change in our lives.

As human beings, we live in stories, and our role in those stories is, in large part, written by us. By bringing curiosity, reason, and truth to bear on our lives, Stephen believes strongly in the power of the therapeutic process to effect personal transformation and discover the meaning of our experiences.

He has been teaching courses in Psychology at Queens College since 2018.

Stephen is currently completing his Masters in Mental Health Counseling at The City College of New York. Previously, he earned his B.A. in Philosophy and his M.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience.

He is interested in depression, anxiety, OCD, and addiction—particularly modern behavioral addictions, such as video games, pornography, the internet and social media.

“The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
